5 days later.
5 days. Just 5 miserable days after I had Freya I was admitted back to the hospital.
On June 18 I had an appointment with the ObGyn that I am not a fan of. Dr. Flaherty is only in my office part time for now, seeing as he's new. I really hope they make him full time because he is amazing.
At this appointment, I made this doctor aware of all my concerns with my post op home care. I was having a headache that lasted 4 days. I was having a lot of pain in my lower abdomen. I was passing blood clots the size of eggs. My lower back was in so much pain, I could hardly walk. She dismissed almost all of them, and prescribed me a blood pressure medication and antidepressant and sent me on my way.
The pharmacy was out of the blood pressure medication until the following week. The next day, the 19th, I still was not feeling well so Alex took me to the emergency room. They looked at my records and ran some tests.
They checked my blood pressure, super high. They did CT scans for blood clots in my lungs. They did chest x-ray of my heart. So much bloodwork. They decided to admit back to the hospital I had Freya in for observation. I was sent by ambulance and admitted for the weekend.
They tried me on the blood pressure medication the ObGyn prescribed and it dropped my heart rate super low. (I am so glad we discovered this while in the hospital and not at home.) They got me on a new one which works, and diagnosed me with severe preclampsia. After a few days and lots of tests and blood work later, I finally got to come home.
Most of the staff at Waccamaw Hospital are amazing. I had a phlebotomist who was entirely too rough, a nurse who was moody, but overall it was a good experience.
I am still very unhappy with that one particular ObGyn. So unhappy in fact that I've reported her to the hospital board for negligence. She sent me home when I should have been admitted. I could have had a seizure or a stroke. I hope to never have to see her again. I have not had a good experience with her at all since I started seeing her, and this was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
*Enjoy these photos of Freya that have nothing to do with this post really. I just love her.
