The First Lesson
Our first lesson was scheduled one day after work. Logan and I worked hard to super clean the house, make sure everything was perfect and cook our dinner from scratch. That's some thing we like to do when we aren't having the heat from Hades burning all around us.
We decided on chicken Alfredo and bread. I used a recipe by my favorite lady, Ree Drummond (also known as The Pioneer Woman) to use her recipe for the Alfredo. It's one I've done before and it's perfection.
Logan made an oil and vingarette mix to dip the bread in. I sliced and toasted the bread, laid out our best plates and we waited until they guys arrived to serve dinner. We learned at our saint Patty's day dinner that Mormons don't drink tea or coffee, so we made lemonade for our beverage.
My husband had the plague and he was tossed to the bedroom and we lysoled the entire apartment while we waited. Thankfully, it was a short wait. The guys showed up, dinner was served and we had small talk while eating. I don't recall every topic of conversation, but I tell you, it was so nice to have dinner with people who weren't rude or judgemental. No cell phones, no tv (they can't watch while on missions) and just no distractions.
Then came the moment of Truth: they asked "So, how do you feel about having a heavenly father that loves you?". At the time, I didn't believe it. And that's what I said. "I don't believe in all this mumbo jumbo."
The look of shock on their faces was kind of funny. I told them I'd listen to their lesson, and I would still cook for them anytime they wanted. We made a plan to meet up later on in the week, which was cancelled due to Tabby picking up Jeremy's plague. The week after that I caught it, and I know they were losing hope.
Truthfully, I kind of was over the Jesus talk. I didn't mind having friends, but I was not looking for Jesus. Religion talk was wearing me out, but these two were super persistent.
After the flu had officially left our family, and quickly jumped to Logan, I disinfected the house and started inviting the guys over again.
After our first official lesson, the restoration, we learned elder Carter had a birthday coming up. We gathered the troops and threw him a birthday party!
To be continued... :)
