Married, At Long Last

It's been one month and 5 days of wonderfully wedded bliss.

It took a lot to get there but it was worth it. My family is whole, we are together, now and forever. I am absolutely happy.

While we wanted to be married in April 2021, things did not work out in my favor. However, I am glad they finally did. We are in a better place, we had all the people we loved present and it was a good ceremony and reception.

We got married in the branch that is my home. I will always think of this branch as my home church. It's where I started going to services. Where I was baptized. Where my daughter Freya was blessed. Now, it's where I married my forever love.

Things were a little wild, and some things went a little differently than originally planned but ultimately it was perfect for us. We had our best people there, and we were married by the best Branch President I have ever met.

We did a potluck style dinner and boy did our friends and family not disappoint. Why pay a fancy caterer when your family and friends are the BEST cooks you know? It felt more like a family event than a formal one and that's exactly what we wanted. Family

We did a short ceremony with hilarious commentary provided by my beautiful bonus daughter. Her and my niece Annie sat front and center. My mom got up to record the ceremony on her phone and Annie followed her. Willow shouted "Annie, come sit right here!" Cue laughter because she loves her cousin so much.

There ceremony started almost 40 minutes late because SOMEONE had to be late. (*cough*Billy*cough*) and I got aggravated and we did it without him. In true Billy fashion, as soon as we finished (it was seriously 2 minutes long), here comes Billy rolling in.

It was fine. Afterward, we had dinner and cake. Oh the cake was delicious. Willow got a piece as big as she is. I'm not even sure if Freya got to try any, as KyLeigh held her hostage almost the entire time.

It was a great time overall, exactly what Alex and I wanted. We had the best friends Stacy and Jim who helped us set up and kept everything running smoothly. Honestly, they saved me so much aggravation. I wasn't sure what to expect. I've never seen an LDS civil ceremony before and I have never personally held an event at the church before. Stacy walked me through pretty much everything, and it was a life saver. I can not thank her and Jim enough. Also a huge thanks to Bonnie who is our relief society president for walking me through the rest of the stuff.

This wedding was a group effort and I love our group. This is one of my favorite things about the church, how we care for each other. Honestly, I don't know how I would have survived the last few years if it weren't for them. The church helped me after I was jobless and had to leave my ex-husband. They helped me until I got on my feet. They have helped and supported me throughout that entire ordeal, along with my very surprised pregnancy, and then this wedding. I am blessed and thankful to be apart of such an amazing group.
