St. Patty's Day 17
Saint Patty's day rolls around and I find myself at work thinking more of this dinner. Work seemed to go on forever and we were super busy on top of it. I keep saying to myself that I'm not going. "I'll just cancel, mom and Cindy will be there. It's not even my thing."
Boy, did God have other plans. I get home and my neighbor Logan hops over wanting to hang out. He caught wind of the dinner with the mormons and asked if I was going. He had an interest as well, and since he's practically family, we decided to go.
We show up a little early to get the feel of dinner for the night and to chat a bit. Cindy apparently started corn beef and cabbage in the crock pot at 1, and didn't realize how long it was supposed to cook! Logan and I watched while Mom took it out of the crock pot and try to finish it on the stove. Then comes the knock, followed by the barking of Ms Ellie Mae and Mr Garth, Cindy's two puppers. She still had Garth, who can be not so nice, on a leash and hollered for them to enter.
We sat down to eat, they prayed and then everyone else ate. (I'm super picky about my food and don't like many things- corn beef and cabbage is near the top of my dislikes list) I came for the company.
We had small chat about the two missionaries, where they were from, what their first names are (I love to guess! So much, now it's a game for all me with all the new missionaries I meet!). We then had a small talk about the book of Mormon. Cindy was reading it and talking about how she felt. I didn't know much so I stayed quiet and listened. Mom by this point snuck away and went to sleep. It wasn't even 7:30! Cindy was growing tired, so we all took that as a sign to leave. We go outside, still talking to elder Carter and elder Wille. They asked if we were interested in a book of Mormon and if we'd like to have a lesson sometime.
I was more than happy to feed them, and I told them that. They left us with their number and a book each and we went on our merry ways.
I recently found out that they didn't think they would ever hear from us, but boy, where they wrong.
To be continued...
